I am happy to announce the release of my new album “Into the Unknown”, featuring piano music by Alexander Scriabin, Amy Beach and Arnold Schönberg. At the heart of the programme are Scriabin’s Piano Sonatas No. 4 and No. 9, two works that trace a fascinating arc from late Romanticism to the very edge of atonality. The whole programme moves between these two poles: from a sound world still firmly rooted in tonality, towards music that ventures ever further to the limits of what is tonally possible, until it finally begins to dissolve. This journey, this venturing into the unknown, is what gave the album its name.
